TASK TWO

3 POTENTIAL SOCIAL MEDIA BENEFITS:
  • Advertisement. Social media can be useful to small companies who are trying to get known. For example, on twitter you can view a companies page and see what they're updating but on the side it will have a 'suggested to follow' box where similar businesses can be promoted. This will catch peoples eye and interest them into other companies.
  • Keep in touch.  Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with your family and friends that live far away. With instant messaging and even video chat Facebook is the perfect environment to stay connected. With the status updates, photos, and profile information, it can keep you up to date on the happenings of all of your close ones.
  • Meeting new people. Social media sites such as Tinder can allow you to meet people. Tinder has changed the way people meet around the world. Making new connections on the app is easy and fun, all you do is swipe right to like someone, or swipe left to pass. If someone likes you back, it’s a match and you can start talking.
3 POTENTIAL SOCIAL MEDIA PROBLEMS:
  • Cyber bullying. Cyber bullying can be through any social media site but is mostly common on Instagram. This site is a place were you can create a profile and post pictures of your choice showing the things you're interested in.These online attacks can leave deep mental scars and in several well-publicized cases, victims have even been driven to suicide.
  • Privacy. Social networking sites encourage people to be more public about their personal lives. Because intimate details of our lives can be posted so easily, users are prone to bypass the filters they might normally employ when talking about their private lives. While at one moment a photo of friends doing shots at a party may seem harmless, the image may appear less attractive in the context of an employer doing a background check. While most sites allow their users to control who sees the things they've posted, such limitations are often forgotten, can be difficult to control or don't work as well as advertised.
  • Fake connection. Social media sites can make it hard for people to distinguish between real relationships and casual relationships formed through social media. By focusing so much of our time and energy on these less meaningful relationships, our most important connections will weaken. This can also result in 'taking over' peoples social lives and becoming anti-social.
